This convention center was the site of Great Britain's formal transfer of Hong Kong's sovereignty to Chinese rule on June 30, 1997. The extension includes a 4,500 seat convention hall, three exhibition halls, pre-function areas, support facilities, and restaurants totaling 330,000 square feet. The convention center is composed of a massive aluminum roof that resembles the curvature of a seabird's wing. Said to be the tallest in the world, the 40 meter-tall, curved glass wall is made of Tempered Azurlite™ Glass with painted ceramic frit, Laminated Solex Glass with a ceramic frit, Silk-screened Clear Glass, and White Laminated Glass.
