Project Description
The Walt Disney Concert Hall is designed as a series of curved sculptural surfaces. Although originally designed to contain a stone-clad exterior surface, the cladding material was changed to stainless steel, in an effort to save money. The total construction cost of the concert hall was $274 million, with the parking garage costing an additional $110 million.
Scope of Services
CDC worked for M.A. Mortenson, providing on-site observation services for the exterior cladding assemblies, including metal panel, glazing, and stone cladding to verify that the assemblies are installed in compliance with the Contract Documents and approved shop drawings. CDC witnessed water testing of the cladding system for the general contractor as well.
