This performing arts center features two buildings connected by a sweeping bridge that spans Biscayne Boulevard. One of the unique features of this project is the colorful paved plaza with carved stone fountains, and the welcoming entrances on all sides of the building. The elliptical plaza features four fountains with carved wave ridges designed by Anna Valentina Murch.
CDC worked with Titan Stone, Tile and Masonry of Florida in the production of granite and cast stone shop drawings, and the engineering of the anchorage of the stone, which is designed to sustain gale force hurricane winds. Due to the complexity of the project, CDC produced substrate drawings for the stone and curtain wall directly to the general contractor. CDC also prepared structural calculations and thermal analysis for Baker Metal Products on the curtain walls and other glazing. The stone drawings and calculations for the unique water feature designed by Anna Valentina Murch were also prepared by CDC.
